The Universe Foundation carries out a project entitled Teaching Facilities of the Future, which involves a number of partners.
About the project
The project aims to contribute to the development of new learning environments and teaching forms in science classes. A further goal is to function as a bridge builder between the formal and informal Teaching environments and to create a room - a facility - to exemplify the possible links between the various Teaching environments. In so doing, the aim is to heighten the level of education and the methods used in science classes.
The project draws on knowledge and experience from Denmark and abroad and builds on a strong scientific network involving Howard Gardner and Svein Sjöberg among others.
Background and needs
In view of the skill level assessments made of Danish pupils in recent years, it is necessary to devise new teaching forms for the sciences and to create an environment for testing them. Knowledge of and teaching in the sciences should be improved, and seen from the teacher's perspective, this means an increased demand for inspiration and motivation for the sciences.
To give children the relevant qualifications to meet future requirements, the teaching must also stimulate the ability to analyse a given situation, formulate a problem and solve the problem through creative thinking and inventiveness.
Based on these requirements, the Teaching Facilities of the Future project will therefore develop a new educational concept for creativity-promoting science teaching - including practical examples of teaching programmes. It is a documented fact that the physical surroundings have a decisive influence on motivation, and the project will thus also develop a prototype of the creativity-promoting teaching programme for science classes: Teaching Facility of the Future 1:1
